Description:
Achmad Sadali (1924-1987; Garut, West Java) studied at the Institut Teknology Bandung (ITB, Bandung Institute of Technology) in West Java under Ries Mulder (Dutch, 1909-1973). He received a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation to study at Iowa State University and the New York Art Students League in the U.S.A., from 1956-1957. His abstract compositions have subtle use of space and nuances of color. Awards: Piagam Anegerah Seni (Indonesia, 1972), Cultural Award (Australia, 1977) Exhibitions: Taman Ismail Marzuki (Jakarta, 1978, 1981), Fukuoka Art Museum (Japan, 1980), Festival of Indonesia (U.S.A., 1990-1992), Gate Foundation (Amsterdam, Holland, 1993), Centre for Strategic and International Studies (Jakarta, Indonesia, 1996).
