Description: I Made Sukada (1945-1982; Ubud, Gianyar, Bali) first studied painting from his father, I Gandung. The large figures in Sukada’s works were due to the strong influence of Rudolf Bonnet (Dutch, 1895-1978). Rather than merely painting portraits, however, Sukada instead preferred to show Balinese as active dancers and musicians with more expressive faces and animated poses. Collection : Tropenmuseum (Amsterdam, Holland). Exhibitions: Kunstzaal Zuid (Rotterdam, Holland, 1976), Museum voor het Onderwijs (Dan Haag, Holland, 1976), Centre for Strategic and International Studies (Jakarta, Indonesia, 1996), Indonesia-Japan Freindship Festival (Morioka, Tokyo, 1997). |
