About Neka Art Museum (NAM)

 

Dharma Seni Foundation Neka Art Museum.

Two male and female figures symbolize purusa and predana, each of which cannot be separated from each other to form balance and harmony in human cultural life. This is a symbol of rwa bhineda. The wayang profile on both figures shows the identity and personality that is deeply rooted in nature and culture and Balinese tradition.The sun with nine (the highest number) rays of light symbolizes the maximum function that the museum wants to practice as a source of information, a source of inspiration, a means of documentation, a means of education, research and community service, a means of cultural promotion, a tourism object and a place to preserve arts and culture.

The museum's swadharma applies throughout time. The three layers of the sun mean that the museum provides utility for the past, present and future. Immortalizing past works of art and culture that are enjoyed in the present and that will be passed on to children and grandchildren in the future. Nine or 6 plus 3 waves showing 6 (six) types of painting styles in the Neka Art Museum collection plus 3 (three) fine arts in the form of sculpture, keris art and photography. The 6 types of painting styles are Classical Balinese Wayang Painting Kamasan Style, Ubud Balinese Painting, Batuan Balinese Painting, Unique Balinese Painting (modern painting ideas and themes with traditional Balinese painting techniques), Young Artist Painting and Contemporary Painting.

The logo of Dharma Seni Foundation Neka Art Museum was designed by Pande Made Kardi Suteja and first published in 1992 in the book Introduction to the Neka Art Museum Collection (Pengantar Koleksi Lukisan Museum Neka , 1992, 1995)
